You Can’t Swipe Your Way to Community

DISCIPLESHIP
Formation = slow, consistent shaping of what you value, what you believe, and how you see the world.
We are more connected than ever, but we are less known than ever.
Colossians 2:8: “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.”
Luke 6:40: “A student is not above his teacher, but everyone who is fully trained will be like their teacher.”
The truth is that the church cannot function without genuine community.
If we are called to reflect Christ, then we are called to show up for others the same way
Ecclesiastes 4:9–10: “Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up!”
John 1:14: “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
James 4:8: “Come near to God, and he will come near to you”
1 Peter 1:14–16: “You shouldn’t give in to evil desires. They controlled your life when you didn’t know any better. The God who chose you is holy. So you should be holy in all that you do.”
SHOW UP PHYSICALLY
Romans 12:2: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
