Name It & Claim It

One of the most popular teachings in modern Christianity is often called the “Name It and Claim- It” movement. It sounds spiritual. It sounds powerful. It sounds hopeful. But the problem is that it often turns faith into a formula and God into a vending machine.

Scripture presents a very different picture. Biblical faith is not trusting God to do what I want. Biblical faith is trusting God even when He does something different than what I want!

Luke 22: 39-42: And He came out and went, as was His habit, to the Mount of Olives; and the disciples followed Him. When He arrived at the place called Gethsemane, He said to them, “Pray continually that you may not fall into temptation.” And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup of divine wrath from Me; yet not My will, but always Yours be done.”

Faith is not getting God to agree with you; faith is learning to trust God's will.

How often do we say, God, I trust you, while secretly meaning, God, I trust you as long as You do what I want.

God is not a genie; he is a Father.

The goal of prayer is not getting God aligned with our plans. The goal of prayer is getting our hearts aligned with God’s.

You know, the Apostles in the Bible, destroy the prosperity formula. The people with the greatest faith often suffered the most.

Faith is not proven by getting the miracle. Faith is proven when you don't.

My challenge to you today is to be the kind of person that prays big prayers.

His ways are not our ways, His thoughts and not our thoughts. The greatest miracle is not getting what you want, it's becoming what God wants.
